Library Books
Being
stuck in bed sent me perusing the wish list I keep at WVReads and I added these
titles to my Kindle App:
The Boy at the Keyhole – I found this one recommended in
some reading list or another. It has a David
Copperfield feel so far.
And the Ocean was Our Sky – I recently finished A Monster Calls, so I’m excited for more
Ness, even though I know my heart will probably be broken.
Heart -shaped Box – Since I’ve been on a bit of a
Stephen King kick, it seems fitting to read his son, too.
In the Shadow of Statues – I find the great statue debate
very interesting. If people want to hang on to them for the history, couldn’t
they put into a museum where seeing them is voluntary?
Our Kind of Cruelty – Another internet recommendation.
Unreliable narrators seem very popular as of late, so we’ll see if I decide to
put up with this one very long.
The Suspect – Another internet recommendation.
I tried to read her first book and didn’t care for it, but the description of this
one reminded me of Brokedown Palace,
which I liked as a teen.
Books in the Mail
The best
weeks are weeks when the I look forward to opening the mailbox and finding
books inside! This week’s arrivals are:
Animals Strike Curious Poses – it combines taxidermy, museums,
and animals. It must belong on my shelf.
Olivier – I know, I know. My Richard
obsession is getting out of hand. I just watched the Olivier version and now I’m
on the Cumberbatch one. Olivier was so neat I had to learn more about him, and
I already have experience with Ziegler from his Edward VIII biography.
Endgame – Why do disasters draw us in? I
don’t know, but ever since I read Katyn
and Martin Gilbert’s Holocaust I’ve
been inclined to torture myself with these sorts of books.
Requiem of the Rose King (volumes
1-3) – More Richard…
