Book snacking: part 3

Today we conclude our series on snack-able titles! Books, it turns out, are just like potato chips or M&Ms: you can't eat.... er, read... just one!

Besides the command rank that marks his tunic, there's something golden about the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, so I'm pairing his "autobiography" (aren't fictional autobios a wonderful idea??) with a pear, brandy, ginger cocktail - preferably with edible gold flakes!

The enormous amount of detail in this book is making it a far more difficult read than I anticipated! It's going to take me awhile to wrap things up, but I think Bowie himself is best represented by lime starburst and dragonfruit!

I don't feel like I've entirely "found my groove" yet when it comes to Forster's writing, and since Maurice begins at a school I'm going to represent it with those tiny school milk cartons that always seemed ready to disintegrate as you drank from them!

I'm reading from the copy of this text that I purchased as an undergraduate, so it's interesting to see my notes from back then! I enjoy this play cycle very much - despite its gore - and I think its flavors are probably chocolate and sour cherry.

You can't do better than Ralph Peters when it comes to war writing that seems to take you right into the center of the action. I've had a harder time getting into this title than some of the others, but I know it will soon sweep me up and have me adding books to my wish list... In honor of those Civil War soldiers who lived on salt beef and salt pork, I think this could be paired with these sandwiches I've found!

Once a year, Hostess releases baseball cupcakes. I love them and some years they come and go without ever being found (at least, by me). My bizarre fascination with their sugary, golden cake gooness (and Geddy Lee's love of the Blue Jays) makes these elusive deserts the perfect pairing for the latest book about my favorite boys! [Side note: if anyone sees these and wants to stockpile them for me, please don't hesitate!]

Geddy "disguised." It's not working, Ged!

Besides the regular reading, I'm also working my way through several graphic novels. As you can see, fantasy and science fiction are well represented! Since I'm reading so many at a time, I suppose these trade paperbacks are best represented by chips!

As this concludes this particular series, I wish you happy reading and happy snacking! As I finish these delectable titles, they'll turn up again posts of their own.
