Books a la Cart!
While driving home recently, my husband and I saw a boat for sale. An avid fisherman, he's long liked the idea of boats, but shared the following quote with me, apparently oft spoken by those in the know: "The happiest day in a man's life is the day he buys a boat. The second happiest day in a man's life is the day he sells that boat." Well, one of the happiest days in my life is the day that he bought me a book cart. (Okay, technically I think it's supposed to be a utility cart for moving tools, or, at the very least, serving room service, but my use is so much better!)
Now I imagine that there are those of you who are scratching your heads a bit and thinking, "but why would anyone ever possibly need an industrial metal cart to read books?" Good question. And the answer is this: there are too many interesting books in the world for me to read just one at a time (think potato chips... although I'm eating healthy again. I'd say "think raisins," but I can totally have just one of those!) And, as I'm reading, there are new, exciting books waiting to come up the ranks. In order to keep everything in some kind of order, my book cart looks like this:
I know what you're thinking: such beauty!
And you're right. And I'm fortunate enough to be married to someone who supports this!
Of course, even the book cart doesn't entirely catch every rogue book in our house. These are the ones from the nightstand:
And these guys are hiding behind the bedroom door, waiting to catch me unawares, I guess:
And that doesn't even cover the digital ones on the Nook. Step one: book cart. Step two: personal library....
